As 2008 marks the 20th Anniversary of Gila River Telecommunications, Inc., the company has come upon many accomplishments and milestones. In looking back at 1988, the goal of the Gila River Indian Community was to provide telephone service to the Community.  At such time, Gila River Telecommunications, Inc. (GRTI, Inc.) was formed.  As we remember, having a phone in your home meant that “you” have a product that only a few individuals had at that time.

In the 21st Century, telecommunications is no longer an “A to B” communicator. With the introduction of the Internet and wireless possibilities, the world has become bigger then we could possibly image.  Thus, the need to for new types of communication became necessary for GRTI, Inc., in order to grow and prosper for the betterment of the Community.

Native Technologies Services (NTS) and Gila Local Exchange Company (GLEC) are just two new subsidiaries of GRTI, Inc., that stem from the needed growth of Community.  Not only for “our” Community but the growing communities that surround Gila River Indian Community. Our limits are not confined just to the boundaries of the Community and we have a product(s) that can serve those communities needs.  The Community needs our neighbors as much as we need them.  It is crucial that our partnerships continue to expand in order for our companies to prosper and offer employment opportunities.
